Thyroid, liver and kidney functions ( TSH which will suggest autoimmune disease Vasculitis evaluation (CRP or Sed rate) .
Antibodies to nerve components (anti-MAG, anti-GM1, anti-Sulfatide, anti-GALOP, Anti-GQ1b) do not do if NCV is positive for neuropathy
Antibodies related to celiac disease avoid if patient has low Vitamin D and low iron levels that already points towards Celaic
Lyme disease , ( Borrelia burgdorferi antibodies)HIV test for AIDS, Syphilis test called (RPR).
Anti-Hu ( antibody for a pure sensory neuropathy underlying malignancy)
SPEP (For Myeloma)
Only for those patients going on IVIg treatment IgA level ( prevent anaphylaxis), IgG level, IgG subclass levels.
For help see services section link above EMG /NCV is done in every patient. Those with normal NCV need a skin biopsy for small fiber neuropathy.
There is no need for Nerve Biopsy it is usually a painful process.
