Essential Fatty Acids Masthenia CIDPUSA.org
Essential fatty acids have been shown to be helpful in many autoimmune diseases by suppressing inflammatory conditions. With MG, inflammation does not appear to be a major factor as it is in other autoimmune diseases. Nevertheless, long-term muscle degeneration may be associated with chronic inflammatory conditions that may improve with essential fatty acid supplementation.
Josephson advised against using polyunsaturated oil because it depletes vitamin E, the most effective vitamin for MG. However, with the much higher vitamin E intake recommended in this protocol, vitamin E depletion should not be a problem and essential fatty acids may be beneficial, especially in slow-responding conditions and with any signs of inflammation.
Therefore, after you have been on the maximum recommended vitamin E intake for several weeks, you may gradually start introducing essential fatty acid supplements with self-observation up to the following amounts: 6 to 8 capsules a day of Mega EPA, a fish-oil concentrate that provides a potent dose of the omega-3 fatty acids, and 5 capsules a day of Mega GLA to provide the critical omega-6 fatty acid gamma-linolenic acid (GLA). The lipotropic agent inositol (also present in sprouted seeds) is required to utilize the fatty acids; 1000 to 2000 mg per day could be helpful.
Other recommended supplements to improve vitality and well-being in general are coenzyme Q10, freeze-dried liver, bee pollen, spirulina, ginseng, and MSM. If fresh wheat or barley grass juice is not used, then take commercially dried barley grass juice.
Increase supplement dosages only gradually and with self-observation, since the recommended maximum amounts may be too much for you. After recovery, gradually reduce supplement intake, but generally continue with the full amount of Life Extension Mix. The mentioned natural food concentrates may be used liberally and indefinitely.
A loss of physical strength and muscle mass may accompany MG. In a study conducted at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska, creatine was given to an MG patient along with a program of resistance training exercise (Stout et al. 2001). Creatine is a substrate that assists in muscle contraction, helping to maximize physical performance and reduce exercise fatigue. The patient was a 26-year-old man who was taking prednisone and azathioprine for his condition. He self-administered 5 g of creatine per day in addition to resistance exercise 3 times per week for 15 weeks. At the conclusion of the study period, a 6.8% increase in body weight was achieved along with significant gains in peak strength for leg extension and flexion. Blood chemistry values also remained within the normal range. The researchers concluded that a weight resistance program that includes creatine supplementation may promote gains in strength and fat-free body mass in MG patients. Although creatine has shown to be exceptionally safe in research studies, it may be contraindicated in people with impaired kidney function.
Additional Therapy
Avoid stress, emotional upsets, hot baths, hot showers, and hot food, and get plenty of rest. Before performing a difficult task, close your eyes and vividly imagine performing that task with ease. Then open your eyes and do it. As much as possible be outside in natural surroundings. Have frequent short exposure of your unprotected skin to mild sunlight.
After thymectomy, try to regrow sufficient functional tissue from any still existing pockets of thymus cells. You may have acupuncture or use a weak magnetic pulser (3 to 7 Hz) over the thymus area and experiment with the following methods.
Dissolve some chelated manganese in water together with some MSM or aloe vera and rub it into the hollow above the breastbone or sternum and along its upper sides. Frequently tap the top of the breastbone over the thymus with the fingers and tap the vertebrae at the base of the neck. Strongly press into any tender point along the upper sides of the sternum and into the sternum itself between the first and second rib. Also press strongly into any tender thymus reflex area around the ball of each big toe and thumb. You may need a helper to do this.
Preferably, have no metal in the mouth and definitely do not have two different kinds of metal. Pure gold is least harmful.
(See the Autoimmune Diseases protocol for additional measures that may be of benefit for the treatment of MG.)
Conclusion
It seems that MG has a tendency to reappear in stressful situations, especially in combination with an unbalanced or unsuitable diet and chemical exposure, which may include medical drugs.
To do this:
Check for and eliminate hidden food allergies and chemical sensitivities.
Use suitable supplements to correct any vitamin and mineral deficiencies and to support the adrenal glands and the immune system.
Eliminate parasites, Candida, and other microbes by using an herbal parasite cure based on wormwood and investigate using colloidal silver, oxygen therapy, and an electronic zapper.
Sanitize your intestinal tract with acidophilus and bifido cultures and suitable laxative food (e.g., ground linseed and psyllium hulls in plenty of water).
Sanitize your teeth by removing mercury amalgam fillings, any dead teeth, and different types of metal in the mouth.
Sanitize your bedroom by unplugging electric cords close to the bed while sleeping; minimize electromagnetic pollution and radiation in home and workplace.
Maintain high-quality nutrition with plenty of fresh vegetable and grass juice and minimize the use of any processed food.
Maintain a relaxed lifestyle, practice relaxation exercises, and learn to meditate.
If there is a relapse, adopt again a strict MG program.

To increase body weight and strength, creatine may be considered. Creatine is most effectively taken in two phases--the loading phase (higher dosage) and the maintenance phase. Follow manufacturer's dosing recommendations.
Rest; avoid emotional stress; keep cool; use guided imagery.
